Here We Are

I, for one, am not a fan of the self-timer. Get up, press the button, race back, smile...wait for it...keep smiling...there it is...get up, check, try again, press the button, race back...
But with just three weekends to spare before our three becomes four, and a long list of to-do's still undone, getting this picture taken had to happen on this day, at this hour, in these clothes, with this camera.

Sienna was putting forth her very best effort. At the sight of each flashing red light she gave us her best "smile teeth" smile.
Therein lies the problem.
This smile teeth smile of hers requires so much effort, she must tilt her whole little body back, raise her neck up above her shoulders and push her chin forward to give us a glimpse of every little tooth in her head (and no glimpse of any other part of her face). This, is the only way she knows how to smile on queue.

After take 14 I would have been fine sending out our Holiday card as a photo of a bare bench and the tree itself, but Adam convinced me that this smile teeth smile would soon wear out (how long can the face muscles of a two-year old hold a smile that large anyway?).

Adam was right, on the 26th try, the mandibles of our little over-achiever had all but tuckered out; leaving us with this adorable little smile and the first check mark on our list of a million weekend to do's.
